The course aims to train the figure of the Dental Office Assistant (ASO), a professional figure established and regulated in Italy by the State-Regions Agreement n. 209 of 2017 and, currently, among the professionals most in demand in the world of work.
The ASO is the operator who performs activities designed to assist the dentist and dental health professionals during clinical services. He/she sets up the environment and instrumentation, is responsible for greeting clients, managing the secretary's office, and dealing with vendors and associates.
The 700-hour course includes 400 hours of internship in facilities of excellence.

The course aims to develop the following competencies:
- Welcomes the person into the office, collects biographical and medical history data, and assists the patient before, during, and after surgery.
- Prepares a welcoming environment, sanitizes it and disposes of office waste; applies procedures for infection prevention and sterilization of instruments, work equipment and operating area; prepares instrumentation and materials needed for various services and the subsequent reorganization of the same; notes the level of consumption of materials and the validity of medications present.
- Passes necessary working instruments to the dentist during clinical procedures; notifies medical personnel of any patient discomfort and assists the dentist in first aid maneuvers.
- Manages the appointment book; maintains relationships with consultants and outside vendors; manages orders for materials and medical devices and is responsible for storage; manages the patient file; manages clinical documentation, iconographic and radiographic materials; manages administrative intake and discharge procedures; manages the warehouse and cash register.
