Robotic surgery is now an established reality in the world of healthcare in a great many countries. It therefore becomes important to unify the various skills necessary for the adoption of this surgical technique through an overview. This is what this Master's program proposes, in which basic information on the technology of the instrument is complemented by a series of teachings designed to familiarize students with the complex robotic instrumentation and its future evolution.
Finally, an overview of the main specialized applications will be conducted through a series of lectures given by experts in all surgical operations that can be approached with robotic technique.
There is no doubt that among the applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning in medicine and surgery, a leading role will be played by robotic surgery, which will achieve full autonomy in the not-so-distant future. For this reason, it is essential to acquire specific professional skills in order not to lose, in the face of the inevitable developments that robotics will have, that advantage that Italy has achieved through a first-rate diffusion of equipment allocated in the various Italian hospitals, both public and private. Becoming familiar not only with the use of the robot in one's surgical discipline, but with all the technology that underlies it becomes indispensable in the face of the challenges that await the national health care system. The investments in health care expected thanks to the NRP will have to find adequate support from the various medical specialists, and those of them who will lend their work in a surgical setting will hardly be able to do without acquiring specific skills on such a constantly expanding field.
- Bachelor's degree in health professions
- Single-cycle master's degree in medicine and surgery
- Single-cycle master's degree in dentistry
The Master's program will enable participants to acquire skills essential for employment on multiple levels of care:
- Graduates of the health professions will be able to find employment, strengthened by a wealth of knowledge that cannot be acquired in a normal university course, in every operating block, even those of great complexity, in which robotic type interventions are performed. In fact, with the spread of such techniques, more and more care facilities, both public and private, will have a need for these professionals.
- Graduates of single-cycle master's degrees in Medicine and Surgery, and of course in particular specialists in Surgery, both general and surgical specialties, will see very wide application spaces open up at operating blocks employing such technology. More and more, on the other hand, will be the health facilities that want to equip themselves with operating rooms dedicated to robotic activities and that will turn to highly specialized personnel such as those with a degree like the one in this Master's program.
